Runaways is one of those Marvel shows it always feels like we have to wait to see in this country, and it doesn't exactly light up the buzz radar the way, say, the MCU always does. Still, it keeps rolling along, and Elizabeth Hurley is has nabbed a villainous role for the third season.
She'll play the Marvel threat Morgan le Fay. Drawn from Arthurian legend and a student of Merlin, the character is considered the greatest sorceress of all time. With a black crow as her familiar and the ability to enchant objects, manipulate mystic energy and astral project, she is powerful and intelligent with a cut-throat wit.
"Elizabeth Hurley is joining the Marvel Universe and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her portraying one of the most enchanting Marvel characters,” says Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb. Hurley worked with Runaways showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage on Gossip Girl.
Runaways focuses on a group of six teenagers who were friends when they were younger, but grew apart. When they discover that their parents are part of a dark, criminal, super-villain-level scheme, they're forced to reunite and face the common foe. The series appears on Hulu in the States and will return later this year. It airs on SyFy UK here, but there's no word on when it'll be back yet.
