Elizabeth Banks? Hey, we were just thinking about her! No, not like that. Go and read the** Spider-Man** story. We’ll wait. Okay, done? So…. Yes, Elizabeth Banks is in the process of nabbing a new role, since The Hollywood Reporter brings word that she’s in talks for the female lead in Alex Kurtzman’s** Welcome to People**.

The Star Trek/Transformers writer is making his directorial debut with the film, which he scribbled with regular producing/scripting partner Roberto Orci, alongside Jody Lambert. It’s not the first time Kurtzman has stepped behind the camera completely, though – he did direct an episode of Alias.

People’s plot follows a businessman (Pine) who reluctantly returns home after his estranged father’s death to discover that he has an alcoholic sister and a 12-year-old nephew. We won’t insult your intelligence by pointing out which one Banks will play.

Banks is a busy woman right now, with Paul Haggis thriller The Next Three Days about to enter cinemas, The Details and My Idiot Brother waiting in the wings and a current job filming Man on a Ledge with Sam Worthington.
