Thanks to the recent trailer, you'll likely already know that Universal and Blumhouse have a new take on The Invisible Man on the way from director Leigh Whannell. But the studio also now has Elizabeth Banks working on a new film called Invisible Woman.

This new film is not connected to the horror effort (though is part of Universal's push to mine its back catalogue), and is more inspired by 1940's eponymous movie, which saw a department store model who becomes the test subject of an invisibility experiment. Upon becoming invisible, she gets back against her mean boss but unwittingly falls into caper involving gangsters.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the new movie, written by Erin Cressida Wilson (based on a pitch by Banks, who plans to direct, produce and star), it's more along the lines of Thelma & Louise crossed with American Psycho.

Banks last made Charlie's Angels, which has had a tough time at the box office, earning around $43.7 million so far.
