She's currently headed back to our screens in Joss Whedon's upcoming series Dollhouse, but Eliza Dushku is breaking out on her own, in a very different direction from slaying vampires as Faith in Buffy or playing a DNA-enhanced "Doll" in her latest show. She is now co-producing a biopic of photographer Robert Mapplethorpe- famed for his love of the male form.

Dushku's brother Nate is in line to play Mapplethorpe, who was a notorious figure in the 1980s art scene known for his explicit depictions of male nudity, until he died in 1989 of AIDS aged just 42. Talking about the project at Sundance, she explained: "Nate physically has an uncanny resemblance to Robert - some pictures are really eerie."

She also said added that development was moving now: "Literally this week after quite some time, we finalized the deal with the Mapplethorpe estate."

Eliza meanwhile, can be seen on Dollhouse, and in upcoming horror Open Graves, about a killer board game.
