Since he directed 2009’s immigration drama Crossing Over, Wayne Kramer has been busy trying to set up a new project, dropping out of what became Bullet To The Head to pursue other jobs, including futuristic drama Ecstasia. But while that remains at the script stage, he’s now locked in a large, eclectic cast for something set in our world, signing Elijah Wood and Matt Dillon up for Pawn Shop Chronicles.

Wood and Dillon are just the tip of the thesping iceberg on this one: Brendan Fraser, Vincent D’Onofrio, Pell James, Thomas Jane, Lukas Haas, Chi McBride, Ashlee Simpson, Kevin Rankin, DJ Qualls, Michael Cudlitz and Norman Reedus are also aboard. And let’s not forget Kramer’s Running Scared star, Paul Walker, who is already set to star and produce.

Written by Adam Minarovich, Pawn Shop revolves around a man looking for his abducted wife who becomes entangled with white supremacist meth heads and a sad sack Elvis impersonator. What links them? Items sold in the store…

“This is a superbly written mind-bender of a story that grabs you from the first line, and doesn’t let go,” says producer Jordan Schur. “We are incredibly fortunate to have found Wayne Kramer to present it, and equally thrilled with the diverse and talented cast assembled.” Kramer has just started shooting in Louisiana.
