While Elijah Wood will be back on our screens in a variety of movies (including reprising the role of Frodo Baggins in at least one of the Hobbit films), he’s also been drawing praise for his work on US dog-com Wilfred. Now the show’s director Randall Einhorn has recruited him to star in** The Late Bloomer,** a new indie comedy.
Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove have written the latest draft of the script originated by Mark Nussbaum. He, in turn, adapted Ken Baker’s 2001 book Man Made: A Memoir Of My Body.
The film’s plot will follow tl the tome’s true tale of a nearly 30 year-old man whose body goes through a suddenly bout of changes. Turns out puberty hadn’t hit at the normal age and now he’s facing everything within the scope of a few overwhelming weeks.
"The Late Bloomer is the type of wonderful heartfelt comedy that I like to engage in,” says Einhorn in a statement nabbed by Variety. “Puberty can be difficult at best and has the potential to be extremely comedic in normal circumstances.”
Wood has a few movies coming up outside of his return trip to the Shire. He’s the lead in a remake of psycho-thriller Maniac and is in the middle of shooting another tense pic, Grand Piano, alongside John Cusack.
