Elijah Wood is a brave man. There was a time when co-starring in a Nicolas Cage film meant you had a shot at something like **The Rock **or Con Air. These days, it’s much more hit-and-miss, as for every Joe there are such stinkers as Left Behind and Rage. Still, Wood is taking that gamble, signing on to co-star in **The Trust{ =nofollow}.

He’s taking over a role that had originally been earmarked for Jack Huston (who will presumably be busy with Ben-Hur), and will see the pair as dodgy cops on the look out for a fresh payday. When they discover a mysterious safe that has unusual safeguards, they naturally covet the contents, which leads them even deeper into the criminal underworld, threatens their lives and leaves them questioning their next move...

Alex and Ben Brewer are handling the directing chores, working from a script that the former wrote with Adam Hirsch. While they’d hoped to shoot last year, the cameras should be finally whirring in the coming months.

Wood, who has become almost more prolific as a producer than an actor recently, co-starred in **The Last Witch Hunter **alongside Vin Diesel. That one is set to arrive here on November 6.
