He's busy enough as an actor, but Elijah Wood has just put on his horror producing hat once again to add another project to the roster of his SpectreVision production company. He's joined forces with Drafthouse, Timpson Films and others for the amusingly titled **The Greasy Strangler, which Jim Hosking will direct. Ben Wheatley is also among the executive producers.

Hosking and Toby Harvard wrote the screenplay, and the story centres on Ronnie and Brayden, a father and son with a fractious relationship who run "disco walking tours" around LA. Does that mean tours of famous disco hotspots, or just more general tours where you're forced to listen to disco the whole time?

Either way, when one of their customers turns out to be an attractive woman, father and son begin competing for her attention. But her arrival coincides with "an oily, slimy inhuman maniac" beginning an after-dark strangling spree. Sounds like it won't end well for anyone.

British relative newcomer Hosking has a background in commercials and short films. He made Channel 4's Privado, and most recently contributed the 'G Is For Grandad' segment to The ABCs Of Death 2, which was also a Drafthouse project.

"When [Timpson Films producer] Ant Timpson sent us Jim and Toby’s script, we all agreed that it was the most disgusting, vile, and all-around grotesquely hilarious piece of cinema we’d ever read, with imagery we will likely never dislodge from our tender, greasy brains,” enthuses Wood. “And that is why it must exist!”

Shooting starts in LA in the spring.
