The Death Wish remake went through yet another development tremor last month when Big Bad Wolves directors Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado left the project over creative differences. But things seem to be back on track, as Eli Roth has jumped in to take over.
Bruce Willis remains attached to star as the in the fresh adaptation of Brian Garfield's novel, which previously launched a movie franchise with the 1974 original. Back then it was Charles Bronson as the other wise pacifist man whose life is destroyed by a violent crime against his wife and daughter and goes on a vigilante rampage. The script comes from Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, and Joe Carnahan had a hand in earlier drafts.
Roth, whose tastes have turned more towards horror thrillers in his directorial career, is just the latest shot-caller attached to the film and studio overlords MGM and Paramount will be hoping he can not only get this one made, but also kick off a whole new series of films.
