While he may forever be the wise, crusading Admiral William Adama on Battlestar Galactica to many of us, Edward James Olmos didn’t always play such noble characters. After recently appearing as a serial killer on Dexter, it appears he’s sticking with the dark side, entering negotiations to play the big bad in Universal’s 2 Guns.
Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington are leading the film, which finds a Navy SEAL (Wahlberg) and DEA agent (Washington) who work together, though without realising that they’re both undercover operatives. They steal millions from the CIA, and then discover that there are some very powerful, very violent people who will stop at nothing to get the cash back. Paula Patton is also aboard as one of Washington’s fellow DEA team members, and may also romance him.
Assuming he signs on, Olmos will be Papi Greco, a Mexican drug lord who makes live even more difficult for our two operatives.
Contraband’s Baltasar Kormakur is directing a script by Blake Masters, and while the movie doesn’t yet have a set release date, we’d expect it to arrive next year.
