Is Edgar Wright looking to line up work for the next decade? He's just added another new potential project to his stuffed work schedule, locking in a deal with Amblin to tackle short story adaptation Stage 13.

Saturday Night Live writer Simon Rich's story was originally published in his collection entitled Hits And Misses, which scored the 2019 Thurber Prize for American Humour. He'll write the script for the eventual film, which follows the ghost of a silent film-era actress that has haunted the titular soundstage of a backlot for decades. After a struggling director meets the ghost, they find an unexpected kinship and team to make their mark on the world.

Wright and Nira Park aim to produce the film via their Complete Fiction alongside Working Title duo Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. It's just the latest movie to land Wright as a potential director, with his To Do list already featuring kidnap thriller The Chain and sci-fi story Set My Heart To Five.

Before he can make any of those, Wright still has to release Last Night In Soho, which will now be out on 23 April next year.
