If you follow director Edgar Wright on social media, you might have noticed that he's been spending a lot of time around the group Sparks, including shooting one of their concerts at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London. Now we know why: he's making a documentary about the band.

Formed in 1972 by brothers Ron and Russell Mael, the Los Angeles rockers have released albums including their 1971 debut Halfnelson, plus 1976’s Big Beat and 1979’s No. 1 in Heaven, which was a collaboration with Giorgio Moroder that found the band mixing rock music with synth pop.

“I already shot their London concert in late May," Wright tells Indiewire. "The rest of is it to be determined and we’re currently scouring the archives. I have been a fan of them since I saw them on Top Of The Pops in 1979 – and when I had Beat The Clock on vinyl."

According to the director, it's not the only thing he's developing, but it's certainly one of his main projects and well underway. There's no word yet on when it might see cinemas.
