The cast for the latest Disney theme park adaptation, Jungle Cruise, has been coming together and is now growing by one. Edgar Ramirez has signed on to star alongside Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt and Jack Whitehall.
The Hollywood Reporter has also learned more about the film's plot, which will be brought to life by director Jaume Collet-Serra. Set in the early 20th century, the story sees Johnson's boat captain taking Blunt and her brother (Whitehall) on an expedition in the Amazon jungle to find a tree that is said to possess healing powers.
They'll face trouble not just from wild animals, but a competing German group on the hunt for the tree. Ramirez is playing a man with a conquistador background who proves to be a troublesome foe.
With a script most recently revised by Michael Green, the film is scheduled to kick off shooting next month with production planned through the summer.
