You might think that the title A Naked Singularity would refer to either a physics discovery or the weirdest strip club imaginable, but it's neither, it's the title of a new legal drama that already boasts the presence of John Boyega and Olivia Cooke and will also now feature Ed Skrein.
The film will be drawn from writer Sergio De La Pava's debut novel, which he self-published in 2008 but saw become a prize-winner after it was re-published in 2012. It follows a child of Colombian immigrants who lives in Brooklyn and works in Manhattan as a public defender – one who, tellingly has never lost a trial. Never. Until one day, he does, and his sense of justice and even self begin to crack, his world slowly devolving around him.
David Matthews wrote the adaptation of the book, and Chase Palmer is aboard to direct.
Skrein will be seen as a villain in Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil, due out on 18 October, and follows that with Roland Emmerich's Midway, which has targeted an 8 November release.
