Danny Boyle is no longer directing Bond 25 – but he’s still going to be plenty busy in post-production on his next film, which shot earlier this year from a Richard Curtis script. Official details on the project are few and far between – but fresh information has arrived from one of the film’s unlikely stars, singer Ed Sheeran.
The British singer-songwriter confirmed that the film is themed around the music of The Beatles – starring Himesh Patel as a musician who realises he’s the only person who remembers the Fab Four’s hit-packed back-catalogue – with Sheeran playing himself in a relatively substantial role. “I discover him and take him on tour. Then he gets much, much bigger than me through doing stuff,” Sheeran said, as reported by Associated Press. “They shot it around loads of my gigs. So it was a very intense two months. Because I would have four days of gigging and then three days of shooting a film. I was playing myself, so I don’t think I was that bad. There wasn’t much to [mess] up.”
Sheeran’s previously popped up in cameos on TV series including Game Of Thrones, The Simpsons, and The Bastard Executioner, but this is his first major film role. Boyle’s film, which is currently untitled but rumoured to be named All You Need Is Love, is expected to arrive in September 2019 – stay tuned for more official information to arrive in the coming months.
