Empire Live is already the hottest ticket in town – now it’s just got considerably hotter. The world’s biggest movie magazine is expanding into the real world for a weekend of filmy events at London’s O2 in September, and we’ve been slowly revealing our programme, bit-by-bit. Today, we can reveal three more events to look forward to.
First off, we’re paying tribute to Rob Reiner’s coming-of-age yarn Stand By Me with a 30th anniversary screening – a rare chance to catch a much-loved classic on the big screen.
Our friends at Criterion Collection are hosting three screenings, and the first announced will be Dennis Hopper’s 1969 counterculture masterpiece Easy Rider.
And we’re hosting a unique screening of modern action favourite The Raid – featuring a live director’s commentary from director Gareth Evans, who will be on stage with Empire’s Chris Hewitt to provide unique and hilarious insights.
That’s adding to the huge programme already announced, which includes a screening of fantasy cult classic Labyrinth (with a masquerade ball, no less); an exclusive first look at The Martian’s extended cut; and a one-off live recording of the Empire Podcast.
Empire Live takes place at the O2 in Greenwich, London, between September 23-25. Individual tickets for each screenings will go on sale at the end of August, when we will announce the complete programme, but ticket packages for the whole weekend are on sale now – and selling fast. Get ‘em while they’re hot.
