For a man who hasn’t made a film so directly involving and influenced by music for years, Clint Eastwood certainly seems to be a in a tuneful mood of late. He’s been trying to get a new version of **A Star Is Born on its feet for a couple of years now, and with that film still stalled due to casting issues, word is he may be considering the Jersey Boys musical instead.
The film, which will be based on the stage show chronicling the rise of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, has been almost as troubled in the development department.
Graham King’s GK Films company has already tried to get it made with Jon Favreau attached to direct at Sony, but then King signed a deal with Warner Bros. and moved the project there, only for Warners to put it into turnaround.
Favreau has left the film to work on other projects, including his Magic Kingdom movie, and now King needs a new director. According to The Hollywood Reporter’s sources, Eastwood has been in talks with the producer and Warners to get it going again at the studio, but there has been no official confirmation of this new wrinkle. If it does pan out, it appears Eastwood will tackle** Jersey Boys** before returning to A Star Is Born and keeping up his efforts to find a male lead for the latter film.
