Fresh from a Best Directing Oscar, and riding (yet another) career high, Clint Eastwood is still determined not to rest on his enormous pile of laurels. In fact, he's struggling up the hill once more, carrying a big Stars and Stripes, to make Flags Of Our Fathers - and now he has Ryan Phillippe, Jesse Bradstock and Adam Beach to help him. The film is based on the book of the same name by a man named James Bradley, who discovered, after his father's death in 1994, that he had been one of the men who raised the American flag at the battle of Iwo-Jima, in one of the most famous moments of World War II. The book has been adapted by Paul Haggis, who worked with Eastwood on Million Dollar Baby. Eastwood announced plans to make the film almost a year ago, (read all about it here). His cast include Phillippe, due to appear soon in Crash and best known for Cruel Intentions and Gosford Park; Jesse Bradford, graduating from teen movies like Bring It On and Swimfan; and Adam Beach, a Native American actor best known as Nic Cage's charge in Windtalkers. It's not known yet which parts the actors are playing. The film is due to start shooting in August, with Eastwood himself and Steven Spielberg producing. We'll keep you up to date as we learn more.
