After growling, brawling and blasting his way through Fast Five, it looks like Dwayne Johnson is ready to stay with OTT action, as he’s now in talks to join G.I. Joe 2.
According to Deadline, the new film – which has a working subtitle of Cobra Strikes – will see the return of Channing Tatum’s Duke Hauser and likely Ray Park’s Snake Eyes, though most of the rest of the cast don’t have solid contracts to return.
If he signs a deal, Johnson will play Marvin F Hinton, better known to the Joes as Roadblock. A tough nut who totes an M2 Browning machine gun, he’s also a cookery enthusiast who dreamed of being a chef before he joined the army. Given Johnson’s man-mountain form in Fast Five, he’s certainly got the muscles for it.
Jon M Chu, who inflicted Justin Bieber: Never Say Never (to say nothing of two Step Up instalments) on us all is behind the camera for the sequel, which has been written by** Zombieland**’s Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and is planned as a 3D release. Chu aims to kick off shooting this summer so that the movie can be ready for next year. As Deadline mentions, that might be important for Paramount if it has to delay the release of the** Star Trek** sequel.
