Looking to keep its relationship with Franchise Viagra Dwayne Johnson healthy, New Line wants to have him reunite with Journey 2: The Mysterious Island director Brad Peyton for **San Andreas: 3D.
If the deal falls into place, Johnson will play a man who must make a treacherous journey across an earthquake-wracked California to reach his estranged daughter. The disaster film has been in development since late 2011, with New Line working from a pitch by Jeremy Passmore and Andrew Fabrizio to solicit scripts from Allan Loeb and Carlton Cuse. Now The Conjuring’s sibling scribbling duo Chad and Carey Hayes have cranked out the draft that has everyone talking greenlight. Presumably they didn’t just take the earthquakey/man-fights-to-save-family bits from 2012 and change the names.
Peyton will have to wait for his chosen star to be available: the man also known as The Rock has just finished work on Brett Ratner’s Hercules and will then head to the set of Fast & Furious 7 to hang with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and the gang. New Line wants San Andreas gearing up for an early 2014 shoot.
