The next Disney animated adventure, Moana, already boasts one person connected with hit musical Hamilton, as the show's composer and star Lin-Manuel Miranda is working on songs for the movie. One of his cast mates – his stage wife, in fact, Phillipa Soo – has now joined the voice cast.

Moana follows the title character (voiced by Auli’i Cravalho), a free-spirited teenager living in the South Pacific years ago, who sets out on a mission across the ocean to prove herself and to help her people. She's joined on her quest by demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson), who could use a little help himself. Entertainment Weekly reports that Soo will be playing one of the villagers in Moana's home, Motunui.

Little Mermaid/Aladdin duo Ron Clements and Jon Musker are directing the film, which has seen script work from them alongside Zootopia's Jared Bush, author Pamela Ribon and What We Do In The Shadows' Taika Waititi.

The film, which will be hoping to bottle some of the Disney musical golden age's luck, is out in the UK on December 2.
