After putting the poster online last week, Dwayne Johnson promised that the first teaser for Disney's next animated adventure, Moana, would be up Sunday. He's a man-mountain of his word, as the first footage from the movie has hit the wider world. Take a look below.
Moana follows the title character (voiced by Auli’i Cravalho), a free-spirited teenager living in the South Pacific years ago, who sets out on a mission across the ocean to prove herself and to help her people. She's joined on her quest by demigod Maui (Johnson), who could use a little help himself.
Maui is the focus of this first look, which we suppose makes sense – leverage your biggest star and let him loose on social media. But there's talent behind the scenes too, with Little Mermaid/Aladdin duo Ron Clements and John Musker directing the film, which has seen script work from them alongside Zootropolis' Jared Bush, author Pamela Ribon and What We Do In The Shadows' Taika Waititi. And the music comes via Hamilton man (and repeat Tony winner) Lin-Manuel Miranda, working alongside Opetaia Foa'i and Mark Mancina.
The film itself will be swept into UK cinemas on December 2.
