In publicity videos, actors often fake fun chemistry, looking to convince the viewing public that everyone had a great time on set and you should totally check out their latest film collaboration, because you might just be the beneficiary of some of that energy. But in the case of Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, they genuinely seem to have fun on set and off. And that is translating to them teaming back up for another movie, this one called Ball And Chain.
With The Big Sick co-writer Emily V. Gordon adapting Scott Lobdell's Homage comicbook run, which focuses on warring couple Edgar and Mallory Bulson. After three years of a tumultuous marriage, they've decided to throw in the towel. That was the plan anyway, until a mysterious meteor bathed the battling couple in extraterrestrial energies... Energies that gave them superpowers that only work when they're together. Will their newfound abilities be enough to make their marriage work?
Several studios have shown interest, and it looks like Netflix, which has the Johnson-starring Red Notice waiting out the pandemic filming shutdown to finish production, will end up nabbing the movie.
Johnson and Blunt, of course, were supposed to be launching Jungle Cruise for Disney this summer, but the adventure comedy has been pushed back to next summer. And Blunt will be seen in A Quiet Place Part II, which is now scheduled to land on 4 September.
