This is going to be a huge year for Disney – particularly in its run of live-action remakes of animated classics. Before ‘90s favourites Aladdin and The Lion King blast their way back to the big screen, we’ll be seeing Tim Burton’s take on Dumbo – and the director seems a strong to choice to draw out both the sweet and sour from the Mouse House’s beloved but tragic tale of a bullied baby elephant. A new trailer for his Dumbo adaptation has arrived, highlighting a little more of the sweetness and hope in the story.
It’s a promising trailer, highlighting that top cast – including the thrilling Batman Returns reunion of Michael Keaton (in a gloriously ghoulish wig) and Danny DeVito – and the luxurious retro-creepy production values you’d expect from a visionary filmmaker like Burton. And most of all, Dumbo himself is utterly adorable. Prepare to shed all the tears, people.
You’ll see an elephant fly when Dumbo soars into UK cinemas on 29 March.
