Comedy actor succumbs to brain disease

Comedy star Dudley Moore died yesterday aged 66. The much-loved comedian, actor and musician contracted pnuemonia after an eight year battle with the rare brain disease Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Moore is best known for his comedy collaboration with Peter Cook and for starring in hit films 10 and Arthur, for which he received an Oscar nomination. Born in Dagenham with a club foot, Moore toured the US as a jazz pianist before joining comedy revue Beyond The fringe with Cook, Alan Bennett and Jonathan Miller. He became a Hollywood star - and unlikely sex symbol
