Because he clearly doesn’t think he has enough on his plate already with writing and overseeing the Daredevil series for Marvel and Netflix, **Cabin In The Woods **man Drew Goddard is negotiating to increase his workload on the Sony/Marvel front, figuring out a deal to direct **The Sinister Six.
As first announced in December last year, the movie is one of two main spin-offs planned from the studio’s Amazing Spider-Man films, with **Venom **as the focus of the other. With nods nodded, winks winked and seeds planted in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2 outing, the spin-offs will begin building a universe around the most famous villains in the web-slinger’s world.
Goddard, who is part of the team that includes Spider-writers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and Ed Solomon, had been rumoured as a potential director for the Sinister Six film around the time of the original announcement. Now he’ll be fully in charge of bringing to life a film that will unite several of the evildoers that have one time or another included Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio and Vulture.
No easy task, then, and the film sensibly doesn’t have a release date just yet. The Amazing Spider-Man 2, however, is almost upon us, arriving on April 16.
