The Wedding Singer

When news broke that Adam Sandler had shelved plans to make Paramount’s comedy Western The Ridiculous Six (it needs more script tweaks) and switched to a new, untitled film for Warner Bros., talk almost immediately turned to his Wedding Singer partner Drew Barrymore as a possible co-star. Well, to almost no-one’s surprise, she’s decided to reunite with him for the film.

The movie itself is still in need of a name, but it has a director, another Sandler veteran, Frank Coraci, and a script by Ivan Menchell and Clare Sera.

Sandler and Barrymore will play a couple who, after a disastrous blind date, are stuck hanging out together at a family resort with their children from previous marriages. Who wants to guess that romance may blossom between the pair? Also, slapstick. But a family resort? It would appear that Sandler’s once again looking to get a sneaky holiday out of this latest film…

Barrymore will be competing with Coraci for the title of Most Frequent Sandler Contributor, though he’s still in the lead with three movies to her two.

Given that both of the acting pair’s previous collaborations, The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates, have been among the better Sandler films, we’re hopeful for this one.

But those who prefer their Sand-man comedy a little more raucous will be happy to know the poster for Grown Ups 2 has arrived.

The sequel, which co-stars Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Salma Hayek, Steve Buscemi and Maria Bello, will be out on August 9.
