It unfortunately didn’t earn the sort of money required to greenlight a big-screen sequel, although that hasn't stopped the Dredd-loving faithful from campaigning to get another film for Karl Urban’s take on Mega-City One’s grouchiest lawman. More of his story will be told, however, by returning Dredd to his comic book roots via the Judge Dredd Megazine{
Dredd: Underbelly will find Dredd and Anderson still fighting the good fight on the mean streets as a tsunami of crime threatens the already-troubled megalopolis. Written by Arthur Wyatt with art from Henry Flint, the issue – number 340 – will be available in print and digitally here in the UK from September 18.
That date, coincidentally, is part of a rallying cry for the valiant, continued efforts to convince Lionsgate and anyone with money or influence that a sequel is worthwhile. September 18 is the designated Day Of Action, when campaigners want fans to buy an extra copy of the film on Blu-ray or DVD, or buy/rent it digitally to send a clear message about the demand for another film. If you want to sign the petition, you can head here.
