Lawyers for Dreamworks have been hard at work over the past couple of months checking that some of the jokes in the studio's summer blockbuster, Shrek, don't fall foul of Disney. The computer animated movie, which is released in the UK on 29 June, tells the story of Shrek - an ogre who finds his home invaded by a bunch of unwanted fairytale characters. 'We basically took every fairy tale and turned it on its side,' Shrek producer Aron Warner told The Sunday Times. As some of these characters are also Disney favourites - Cinderella, Robin Hood et al - Dreamworks brought in the lawyers to check that they weren't dragged through the courts by the House of Mouse. 'We showed every scene to lawyers as we went along, 'says Shrek Director Andrew Adamson, 'We did not want to be sued by Disney.' Jeffrey Katzenberg, who left Disney to found Dreamworks, agrees. 'We have a tremendous amount of respect for Disney,' Katzenberg told the paper. 'I am sure nobody will be offended and they will see the joke.
