Late last year, there came bad news for fans of DreamWorks Animation's The Croods, as the company, spurred by new partner Universal, decided to shelve the sequel to the 2013 cave-people comedy. But all is not lost! It turns out that the movie was simply delayed, and that it'll now arrive in 2020.
While the original saw the likes of Grug (Nicolas Cage), Eep (Emma Stone) and Ugga (Catherine Keener) forced to leave the safety of their cave and trust in the more evolved Guy, voiced by Ryan Reynolds, the new film sees them facing a big new threat: another family. Writer/directors Kirk De Micco and Chris Sanders are working on the movie, currently scheduled for 18 September 2020.
In related DreamWorks news, the company has also announced that Spooky Jack, written by Robert Ben Garant and produced by Blumhouse overlord Jason Blum, is now taking aim at a 17 September 2021 release. We'll see how that one distinguishes itself from the popular Pixar effort...
