Waaaay back in January of last year, Tobey Maguire became attached to** Good People, the adaptation of a novel by Marcus Sakey. Now, at last, he's found a director to make the movie - and it's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo's Niels Arden Oplev.

The book's story follows a married couple, Tom and Anna Reed, who are in debt following several rounds of IVF. It seems like all their worries are over when they find $370,000 in the room they let to a suddenly-deceased tenant, but when they try to keep the money for themselves, things get complicated, fast.

Maguire's set to produce and also star, although there's no word on a female lead yet. Oplev, meanwhile, was responsible for the most critically acclaimed of the Swedish Stieg Larsson adaptations and has since worked on the TV versions of that trilogy.
