The Charlie Brooker-driven dark sci-fi satire series Black Mirror** **is back this week on UK screens. So it’s a weird coincidence to relate that Robert Downey Jr has nabbed the rights to one of the first run’s episodes to adapt and produce as a film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, his company Team Downey picked up the rights to The Entire History Of You. The drama focused on a world where almost everyone has a tiny piece of tech called a “grain” implanted just behind their ear, which records everything they see, hear or do. Stored memories can then be played back either in front of your eyes or on a screen.

The TV show introduced us to Liam Foxwell (Toby Kebbell), who worries that his job may be at risk and that his wife (Jodie Whittaker) may be cheating on him. He becomes obsessed with finding the truth.

Jesse Armstrong wrote the original episode and has been hired to craft the film adaptation, which will borrow the tech angle for a story about a man who reconstructs his relationship with his dead wife from her point of view and stumbles into a huge conspiracy. As of right now, Downey Jr won’t star in the film, but that may change in the future. After all, we know he likes tinkering with hi-tech gear with dangerous consequences…
