With promotional duties on** Cloud Atlas** now over, the Wachowskis are well and truly firing the rocket boosters on their next ambitious film, Jupiter Ascending. Just last week Sean Bean jumped aboard and now Great Expectations’ Douglas Booth has nabbed a leading role.
Who that character will be is known only to Lana and Andy Wachowski and their various pre-production teams, because the whole affair is being wrapped in the usual swaddling clothes of secrecy.
What we do know is this: Booth, Bean, Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum and Eddie Redmayne are all part of a story set in some future/alternate time where humans are at the bottom of the evolutionary ladder.
But when the Queen of the Universe learns that Kunis’ lowly, poor human woman’s existence threatens her rule, she decides that the girl must be assassinated.
The cameras should be whirring soon, especially given how quickly the cast seems to be coming together. We’ve got to admit that brief synopsis actually wants to make us see what the Wachowskis have come up with this time.
As for Booth, he’ll be seen opposite Hailee Steinfeld in the new Romeo And Juliet this year and has also worked on Darren Aronofsky’s Noah, though we have to wait until 2014 for that to arrive.
