Director Doug Liman has tracked down three stars for his next project, the previously announced sci-fi thriller Jumper.
The plot sees a youth from a broken family (Tom Sturridge) on a mission to track down the man he believes is responsible for his mother’s death. Along the way, he finds out that he can teleport, which suddenly makes him very interesting to the National Security Agency, who want to find what could be a very useful tool – and a massive risk to the country.
Fortunately, he has a friend in a mysterious fellow “jumper” (King Kong's Jamie Bell), who shows him how to hone his abilities. Meanwhile, romantic tension builds with the lady in his life (December Boys co-star Teresa Palmer).
Liman is working from a script by Mr & Mrs Smith’s Simon Kinberg, who has rewritten David Goyer’s original draft. The film is planned to launch a trilogy, with a June shoot that will eventually take in Rome, Tokyo, Toronto and New York.
