If you were eagerly anticipating someone – in this case Doug Liman – finally getting to work on Fox's Channing Tatum-starring Gambit, you might want to be a little less eager. He's still attached, but has decided to squeeze in psychological thriller The Wall before he heads into superhero territory.

Though Tatum was to have slipped into Gambit's trademark trench coat to shoot in the early part of this year, the script is undergoing yet another re-write this time, according to The Hollywood Reporter, at least, with the actor's producing/writing partner Reid Carolin taking a crack at the job.

So the wait for that to be finished means Liman has some time and rather than cool his heels, he's looking to tackle this new project for Amazon. Written by Dwain Worrell while working as a teacher in China and snapped up as the first script bought by the company as part of its open submission process, The Wall follows a sniper and his spotter who find themselves pinned down behind cover by an elite enemy shooter. It's apparently a small film that Liman can work on this summer before he throws himself into Gambit's production schedule later in the year.

Liman's most recent film, crime thriller Mena, sees him reunited with Edge Of Tomorrow's Tom Cruise. It'll be out on January 6 next year.
