Late last month, we learned that Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement had begun to lock in the cast they needed for the TV pilot based on their memorable mock-doc movie What We Do In The Shadows. The ensemble is growing to include potential recurring cast places for Doug Jones, Beanie Feldstein, Jake McDorman and Mark Proksch.
US network FX has handed out a pilot order to the planned half-hour comedy series, which will take the basic idea of the film and infuse it with new characters, following the misadventures of vampires who live together and must struggle with the everyday chores of the world, all while trying to also indulge in the un-life of their kind. The cast already includes Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou and Harvey Guillen as the leads.
The new additions – whose roles have yet to be revealed – will all be appearing in various episodes assuming the show makes it past this initial stage, which we firmly hope it does. Given how the cast is filling out, we'd expect the cameras (overseen by Waititi) to be rolling soon.
