Don't get us wrong, we love a good cross-dressing comedy as much as the next person, but you can't help wonder at the wisdom behind wheeling out Mrs Doubtfire's decade-old carcass for another run around the block. That's the general plan though, as news reaches us that a sequel to Chris Columbus' daft-as-a-badger-sandwich comedy is now being planned. The original, if you'll recall, saw Robin Williams separated from wife Sally Fields and in danger of losing custody of his three kids. Unwilling to accept this, he didn't dress up as Spider-Man and hang off the front of Buckingham Palace, but rather took on the guise of an elderly Scottish woman and landed a job as their housekeeper. It was all largely harmless fun and allowed Williams to showcase his propensity for silly voices and self-humiliation, but do we really need another dose? Williams is in negotiations to reprise his dual role though, given that it's now ten years after the then ageing Euphegenia Doubtfire made her first appearance, the poor woman must be nearing a hundred by now. If it goes ahead then this could be the most disturbing cross-dressing caper since Psycho.
Very Doubtful
Robin Williams to return for Mrs Doubtfire 2?
