What would you do if you were told that the world was likely ending? Chances are you might react a little more urgently than the politicians and celebrities in Adam McKay's new satire Don't Look Up, which finds him merging the wackier fare of his Anchorman days with the angrier viewpoint in his more recent The Big Short and Vice. The latest trailer is online.
Don’t Look Up stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence as a pair of astronomers who become aware of a comet heading straight for Earth – but their words of warning aren't taken too seriously by Meryl Streep’s president and her staff, including a smugly, cheerfully obnoxious Jonah Hill, who acts to stop them when the pair finds a way to spread the news outside of official channels.
With McKay channelling his fury over the inaction on climate change, he's loaded this one with stars even beyond the group we've mentioned, and this new trailer gives us a better look at the likes of Timothée Chalamet, Tyler Perry, Cate Blanchett, Mark Rylance, Ron Perlman, Scott ‘Kid Cudi’ Mescudi and Ariana Grande.
Netflix is looking at this one as a potential awards player, with a limited cinema run from 10 December ahead of the film arriving on the streaming service on 24 December.
