Back in 2005, Mr. And Mrs Smith paired Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to winning (and, er, personal life-disrupting) effect back in 2005, while also launching the scriptwriting career of Simon Kinberg. The concept of married killers is getting an update from two tremendously talented people – Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

The pair are working with Atlanta and Fargo's Francesca Sloane to create the new series (with Sloane running the show) for Amazon, which is looking to have it on screens next year. It'll be a new take on the idea of assassins agents who are struggling with their marriage, only to discover that they're each other's next target.

This marks the latest development in the attempt to rebottle this particular magic – Kinberg and original director Doug Liman developed a TV version that didn't get past the pilot stage (Martin Henderson and Jordana Brewster took over the roles) and then Fox decided that a movie reboot could work. That, obviously, didn't happen and, well, we do know what happened to Fox...

Glover and Waller-Bridge's announcement is below. Fire up the Solo reunion klaxon!
