Last May, we brought word of Roger Donaldson putting together a starry ensemble for financial thriller Cities, with Clive Owen, Anil Kapoor, Kirsten Dunst and Orlando Bloom starring. Now, thanks to those pesky scheduling difficulties, Owen is out and Dominic Cooper is taking his place.
As its name suggests, Cities follows several stories set around the world in the months before the Dow Jones stock market hit a high point. We’re introduced to a New York hedge fund manager, a Mumbai police officer battling corruption and a young couple in London trying to get their feet on the property ladder.
Donaldson is also behind the script, and he’s looking to start shooting in the next few months across London, Mumbai and New York.
But the move might cause a scheduling ripple of its own, as Cooper was set to shoot Albert Hughes’ action thriller Motor City around the same time. Unless the diaries can be synced up, chances are he’ll have to skip the Hughes film, which is also set to feature Gary Oldman and Amber Heard.
Cooper had a successful 2011, starring in The Devil’s Double and winning roles in both Captain America and My Week With Marilyn. He’ll next crop up in **Summer In February **and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter**, which has just launched a trailer into the world.
