Dominic Cooper On For Dracula

Did Dominic Cooper learn nothing from Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter? Dude, vampires are bad news. But it appears he hasn’t, as he’s now set to tangle with Luke Evans’ title character in the new Universal take on **Dracula.

With Gary Shore set to make his feature debut on the film, this version of the bloodsucker story (for years lumbered with the title Dracula: Year Zero) blends mythology with history to follow the story of the 15th century Prince Vlad, who ended up inspiring Bram Stoker.

In Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless’ script, the main man is trying to defend his family and country from a bloodthirsty sultan. But as part of his noble effort, he ends up dipping into more darkness than he intended, and becomes the world’s first bloodsucker.

Cooper’s role hasn’t been released, but if he signs on, he’ll co-star with Evans and Sarah Gadon, who we assume will be playing Vlad’s wife.

Before he heads to Transylvania (or wherever Dracula ends up shooting; it could be Pennsylvania if the tax credits are good), Cooper will be seen in Need For Speed, which he’s working on right now with Aaron Paul. He’s also shot Reasonable Doubt and Summer In February.
