We don't remember Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit ending with the title character dodging Stormtrooper fire, but perhaps that'll be happening in the new live-action/CG blended take on the character. How so? Because General Hux himself, Domhnall Gleeson has landed the key human role of Mr. McGregor.

Will Gluck is directing the new movie, which will see people such as Gleeson and Rose Byrne interacting with animated animals in the story of the plucky/cheeky rabbit who decides to raid McGregor's vegetable garden.

James Corden is lending his tonsil talents to Peter, while Daisy Ridley and Elizabeth Debicki are also voicing animals. The film is setting up to start work at animated effects studio Animal Logic in Australia this January, with an April 2018 release date pencilled in.

Gleeson remains a man in demand, having worked on a new, untitled Darren Aronofsky drama, comedy drama Crash Pad, and a biopic of another literary icon, AA Milne. And then there's the small matter of his return as the sneering, scheming Hux in Star Wars: Episode VIII, due out on 15 December next year.
