The cast for new mob drama The Kitchen is just getting better as it grows. With Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish and Elisabeth Moss starring, the ensemble now includes Domhnall Gleeson.
Andrea Berloff is making her debut with the movie, which she has adapted from the 2014 graphic novel series by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle that hit shelves from Vertigo.
The story follows what happens when an FBI sweep captures a group of Irish mob leaders in 1970s Hell's Kitchen. With the criminal organisation in chaos, the wives of the men take over and start to run their illicit business in a much more vicious fashion than they ever did. While McCarthy, Haddish and Moss play the wives who take over the operation, Martindale will be a woman who runs things behind the scenes.
As for Gleeson, he's playing Gabriel O’Malley, a Vietnam vet who worked for neighborhood gangsters as a hitman before skipping town. He returns to settle scores when the wives take over.
Berloff is in pre-production on the film, which is aiming to be out in September next year. Gleeson, last seen in Peter Rabbit, will be seen in The Little Stranger and should be back as General Hux in Star Wars: Episode IX, due in December 2019.
