You know, we didn’t think that we could get any more excited about The Expendables, the in-the-works, balls-to-the-wall action movie that will unite Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and Jet Li as mercenaries taking down a South American dictator.
But, with the news that Stallone is set to cast Dolph Lundgren in a role, we’ve somehow managed it.
Stallone, who will write and direct the story of a group of mercenaries trying to take down a South American tyrant, showed up in Las Vegas the other day for the premiere of The Stath’s new movie, Transporter 3, and briefly revealed that he was hoping to add his old Rocky IV nemesis, Lundgren, to the mix.
“It’s going to be like a homecoming of tough guys,” Stallone told Review Nation.
And let’s hope so – Stallone, The Stath and Li are already some kind of action hero holy trinity, but the addition of Lundgren further hints that Stallone could be taking this movie in a deliberately revisionist, 80s-style direction. But will he stop at casting Lundgren? Will Steven Seagal be next? How about Michael Dudikoff? Is it time for someone to blow the cobwebs of Wings Hauser?
