They've been off-screen pals (and onscreen frenemies occasionally) for years, but now Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren are teaming back up for a new TV action drama called The International.

The series – which according to Deadline scored offers from three big US networks – will see Lundgren starring as a covert operative at the Department of Safety and Security at the UN. He is described as the UN’s secret special agent, a one-man SWAT team and hostage negotiator. Ken Sanzel wrote the pilot and would produce the show, with Stallone acting as executive producer via his Balboa Productions company and, if all goes well, he may also direct that first episode.

While Stallone has yet to say whether he'll show up on screen for this one, the pair shared scenes recently for Creed II. Lundgren has a couple of new action movies on the way, and Stallone is preparing to launch the next John Rambo film, Rambo: Last Blood, due out here on 20 September.
