It’s official! The loveable dog genre is back! Following hard on the paws of Paul Walker huskie drama Eight Below, a new version of Lassie and Tim Allen-turns-into-a-dog flick The Shaggy Dog, Firehouse Dog is the next in a growing slate of canine capers itching (and scratching) to reach the screen.
With a screenplay by newbie Claire-Dee Lim, Firehouse follows Rexxx, Hollywood’s most in-demand pooch, who strays too far from a bustling backlot and gets adopted by a down-on-its-luck fire station. Bree Turner (The Wedding Planner) stars as a commercials producer who worked with Rexxx before he went AWOL and leads the hunt to track down the missing mutt.
Directed by Todd Holland — a TV veteran who has steered the likes of quality youth fare like My So Called Life, Felicity and Malcolm In The Middle — Firehouse Dog also features Josh Hutcherson, Bruce Greenwood, Dash Mihok and Steven Culp. Expect lots of trailers featuring Who Let The Dogs Out clogging up your screens soon.
