We’ve already seen some of Disney’s new animated adventure Big Hero 6, though it’s largely been limited to imagery and a teaser focusing on central figure Hiro Hamada and his hefty robot pal Baymax. Now, via USA Today, the Mouse House is offering a glimpse at the other characters, and has revealed details of the voice cast.
Big Hero 6 finds Hiro (Ryan Potter, who apparently shares a half-Japanese / half Caucasian background with his character), suiting up as part of a team of superheroes who must save the day when their city, San Fransokyo, comes under threat. While Hiro doesn’t have powers of his own, the young genius has built a battle suit that lets him link with Baymax magnetically for some tag-team combat. Baymax, incidentally, boasts the voice of 30 Rock’s Scott Adsit.
Fred, meanwhile, brought to life by T.J. Miller (currently on screen dodging robots in Transformers: Age Of Extinction), who uses a massive, giant creature-homage suit that allows him to jump high and breath fire. Jamie Chung’s Go Go Tomago is described as a laconic Clint Eastwood type, a woman of few words but one of the few on the team who is tough from the start. She’s developed a bike that features magnetic levitation via maglev discs that she can detach and throw. {Big Hero Six Three Stills}
Honey Lemon (Genesis Rodriguez) is a chemistry student and the soul of the group. Most of her character details are being kept shrouded in mystery, but she’s a sharp, shrewd genius. Finally, Wasabi (Damon Wayans Jr.) is unsure about the superhero life to begin with, but embraces his destiny with plasma lasers from arm weapons. Sounds like they’d come in handy…
With Comic-Con next week and D23 coming up, we’re hoping to see more from the film, including, we’d guess a longer trailer before more of the characters in action. Big Hero 6 is out in the UK on January 30.
