Apparently, in this world there exists a, very successful, troupe of all male cheerleaders. So successful are they that Disney has decided to make a movie about them. However, it is a comedy.

The Matadors will tell the story of the XY-chromosomed team screamers who support the basketball team The Chicago Bulls. The script has been written by Mike Bender (Not Another Teen Movie) and will be directed by choreographer-turned-director Anne Fletcher.

The story will follow two basketball fans who are so obsessed with their team that they decide to put together a cheerleading squad to support their beloved players through the medium of dancing and shouting in rhyme.

Our American friends may well be familiar with The Matadors, but being possessed of little knowledge of basketball we looked them up and turns out they're not what you'd think male cheerleaders would look like. They've got plenty of ripples, but they're on bellies rather than six-packs. Take a look at them in that picture. So, it sounds like this should be a comedy celebrating them, rather than mocking them. There's no denying that fat guys dancing is always good comedy. It's up there with old people swearing, men getting hit in the crotch and George Bush trying to put together coherent sentences.
