Walt Disney Pictures has snagged the rights to turn the comic book Monster Attack Network into a movie.
The 2007 comic, written by Marc Bernardin and Adam Freeman, with Nima Sorat covering artistic duties, follows a team who rescue residents of a South Pacific island whenever they are threatened by giant monsters that emerge from the sea, which happens a lot more than you'd normally expect. The tone is said to be similar to Men In Black.
There's no director in place, nor mention of who is writing the script, but on his official blog Bernardin says that he'd like Nathan Fillion to play the group's leader, Nate Klinger. We haven't actually read the comic book, but that piece of casting would obviously push this film toward the top of our must see list. Fillion alone is worth your cinema-going cash, but with sea monsters? Well, that's just value you can't argue with.
