Some movies are unintentionally so bad that they become great fun to watch. A classic of the misbegotten shlock genre is The Room, directed, written, produced by and starring Tommy Wiseau, a man who should absolutely not be acting. Or near a film set, really. Now James Franco has channeled his and his funny friends' obsession with the movie into a film about its creation. See the first teaser for The Disaster Artist below.

500 Days Of Summer's Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber adapted actor Greg Sestro’s book The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, which he wrote with journalist Tom Bissell. The tome chronicles the chaotic making of The Room, which really needs to be seen rather than described, and you can watch the trailer here{ =nofollow}.

Dave Franco is co-starring as Sestero, with his older brother directing and playing Wiseau, who thought his filmmaking dreams had come true when he got to shoot the drama, only to watch it become a cult sensation for all the wrong reasons. The cast also includes Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Zoey Deutch, Alison Brie, Josh Hutcherson, Paul Scheer and a wealth of cameos from the likes of Bryan Cranston, Adam Scott and Kristen Bell.

The Disaster Artist will be out in US cinemas on 8 December. It is listed for a 2017 release in the UK, but there is no confirmed date just yet. Oh, hi Mark!
